Lennie

My favorite character in the book Of Mice and Men is Lennie. Lennie is my favorite character for several reasons. The first reason why is that he is the most innocent of all of the workers. He is the most innocent of the workers because he doesn’t really know what he is doing, and has a dream of owning a piece of land. Another reason why Lennie is my favorite character is that I feel sorry for Lennie. This is a reason why he is my favorite character is that he never knows what he is doing. For example he accidentally kills a puppy and mice even though he is not aware that he is killing them because he does not know his own strength. A third reason why Lennie is my favorite character is that Lennie is that he is free. This is a reason why Lennie is my favorite character is that most people picked on him because he was not very smart, and since George shot him, Lennie is now free. An example of Lennie’s freedom is that he went to heaven and in heaven there is no stealing and no fighting, so Lennie will not be picked on. This is why Lennie is my favorite character in the book, Of Mice and Men.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia is a painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or is in an irreversible coma. However, the practice of euthanasia is illegal in most countries. While I don’t like euthanasia, I think it should be used with the permission of the patient. I think that euthanasia should be used if the patient doesn’t want to suffer from a disease where there is no cure. I think that it should not be used on anyone, only the people who want to be taken out of their misery. I believe this because some people would rather have a quick and painless death then having a long and torturous death. An example in the book we are currently reading, Of Mice and Men, Candy’s dog was put out of its misery be being shot in the back of the head with a gun. If the dog was not shot, then the dog would be in pain because it was almost blind and couldn’t walk at all. On the other hand, a person who hates life could pretend to have an incurable and painful disease, so the doctor would kill them, so they don’t have to kill his or herself. This is why I think that euthanasia should be used.

Dreams

Dreams sometimes fail for several reasons. An example in Mice and Men is that workers always dream of having land, then the workers waste their money in town. Their dreams fail because they all of the workers want is to have a piece of their own land and none of them get the land. One reason why dreams sometimes fail is because of lack of information. This makes dreams fail sometimes fail because if you have lack of information then you cannot do something unless you have a vital piece of information. Another reason why dreams sometimes fail is that people set unrealistic goals. This makes dreams fail because people dream of doing things that they know they could not do, but hope they can accomplish. Another reason why dreams sometimes fail is that the dreamer may not really try to accomplish that dream. If the dreamer doesn't try, then the dream will not become reality because the dreamer is not trying to get that dream to succeed. An example in my life were a dream fail was that I hoped to win a big chess tournament. The dream failed was that the dream was somewhat unrealistic. This why dreams sometimes fail.

Belonging

It is very important for human beings to have a place to belong, and where there are people who know them and love them for several reasons. The first reason why is that people are happy in a place where they belong. In a place where a person belongs, then people who also belong there will get to know them better and will befriend them. A second reason why it is important for human beings to have a place to belong is that people enjoy it when they are loved. In Mice and Men, however, George and Lennie don't really belong in a place because Lennie keeps making George and Lennie leave due to Lennie's actions, so they only care for each other. This is why it is important for human beings to have a place where they belong, and where there are people who know them and love them.

Friends

A friend is someone who will always be at your side no matter what happens. A friend is someone who will always tell you the truth. A friend is also someone who is always kind to their friends. We have friends for several reasons. One reason why we have friends is that friends will always be at your side no matter what you do. This is good because if everyone’s friends left them if their friend did something dumb, then no one will have any friends. The second reason why we have friends is that everyone will not be lonely. This is a good reason to have friends because no one wants to be lonely. An example in the book Of Mice and Men, George doesn’t leave Lennie, even though Lennie always gets George and Lennie fired and have to leave to get another job, while it is easy for George to just leave Lennie and have a good job. However, George does not leave Lennie because George knows that Lennie cannot survive on his own. These are examples of why friends are important to have.

Anticipation/Reaction Guide

I think that the best place for justice is to be determined is in a court of law. I think that this is the best place for justice for several reasons. One reason why is that judges can’t take bribes. For example if the defendant gave the judge $200 and the prosecutor gave $250 dollars, the judge will give back the $50 so it will be even, so there would be no bias that favors one side. Another reason why is that judges choose what they think is the best decision. This is fair because judges have a very good sense of judgment and choose what they believe is the best choice for the world. Another reason why is that everyone is entitled to a fair and just trial. This way no one will have a bias during the trial because if there is a bias, then the trial will not be fair. Another reason why is that a person that lives in the US can appeal their case up to the Supreme Court. This is why I think that the best place for justice that needs to be determined is in a court of law.

Romeo and Juliet questions

Question 1: Was is wise of Friar Lawrence to give the potion to Juliet? Why or why not?

I think that it was not wise of Friar Lawrence to give the potion to Juliet. One reason why I thought if Juliet told her family that both Romeo and herself are married and love each other dearly, then Juliet's parents might have tried to get Romeo back into Verona. Another reason why was that a Capulet could have found the vial and might know that Juliet is in a deep sleep. This is why giving the potion to Juliet was a bad idea.

Question 2: Do you think that The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is really a tragedy? Explain your response.

I think that The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is not really a tragedy. I think that it is not a tragedy because Romeo and Juliet told nearly no one that they were married to each other. Another reason why is that if Romeo and Juliet's parents knew that they kids were married to each other then both of the families might have been glad that their kids were married to each other and there might have been no death in the play.

Question 3: Who was ultimately responsible for all of the death that occurred in the play? Why?

I think that Friar Lawrence was ultimately responsible for all of the death in the play because if Romeo and Juliet were not married then Romeo, Paris, and Juliet would not have died. Also, if Friar Lawrence told Lord Montague and Lord Capulet that their kids were married, then the feud might have ending so Romeo, Paris, and Juliet would not have died. This is why I think that Friar Lawrence was ultimately responsible for all of the death in Romeo and Juliet.

Act One Thoughts

Act 1 shows what will happen in the following acts. The act shows that the hatred between the Montagues and the Capulets is so huge, that even the servants hate the other family. I think that Romeo really does love Juliet because when he was at the Capulet’s party, he was asking a servant what Juliet’s name was. Another reason why Romeo loves Juliet is that both Romeo and Juliet were giving speeches and kissing each other. I think that Romeo loved Rosalie, but totally forgot about her when he saw Juliet for the first time.

            I liked the puns and wordplay. I liked the puns and wordplay because it was interesting to see how many ways Shakespeare used the same word multiple times. I think that the language was ok in general because of the old language like thou. These are my thoughts on Act One.
